Introducing the 2018-2019 Academic Calendars!
Working on the new academic calendars while we were in the middle of finishing up our home school year was a little bizarre. Part of me did not want to work on these at all. I’ve been counting the days until summer vacation for months now, and thinking about the new school year just wasn’t topping my list of fun things to do. Never the less, I did work on them and they are finally ready to be shared with all of you!

By far the biggest struggle with these calendars was figuring out what months to start and end them in. Originally I settled on July to July, but that was going to be thirteen months. I’m not the superstitious type, but I didn’t want to put anyone else off. Plus, 13 months just sounded weird to me. I finally settled on August to the July, because that seems to be the standard for the academic year.
Single Page Academic Calendars
Just like the 2019 calendars, I made sure to make these ones available in both a Sunday and Monday start.
And, as always, they come in both full and half-size.
In addition to the academic calendars I’ve also decided to make a few other changes this year. Normally, I begin releasing updated weekly and daily planning pages in November or December, but this year I’m going to release a few in August. These will be in the same design as the academic calendars and the 2019 calendars. In addition, I’m working on a student planner package that will be released around the same time. If you have any suggestions for what you’d like in the student planning pack please drop me a line the comments below or send me an email and let me know what it is. I’ll do my best to include as many requests as I can.
Tomorrow I’ll be sharing the two page per month versions of the academic calendar and I’ll be following those with the year on a page calendars for both 2019 and the academic year. I can’t wait to share them all with you.

My life has revolved around an academic year since I first started school back when September was the school start dates for every school in Los Angeles. (August is my bday month and is still ingrained as a SUMMER month entirely so I’m still adjusting to the fact that both my kids’ schools as well as my college now begin as early as *before* my ‘Summer’ b’day!)
I’m very thankful you made a Monday start;it’s always bothered me that weekends were grouped together on weeklies, but fractured on monthly views. I hated drawing those wonky arrows to try to capture that some weekends had themes or twoday plans.
I do hope you will continue to offer Monday start Academics on half-sized paper. 🙂
The academic calendars have made my life so much easier! You are amazing. I have been using your monthly calendars in my teacher planner for 5 or 6 years now, and I have always had to splice together two different calendars to create one for the school year. Thank you so much!
When do you announce when the next calendars will be released? I am putting together a planner for my student teacher to use next year (2019-2020 school year) and I would need to have it finished for her by Christmas for sure. I can’t imagine using anyone else’s calendars since yours are my absolute favorite, but I wasn’t sure when you typically released them. Thanks!
Thank you ever so much for your well thought out and designed calendars. Ever since I realized my calendar needed to match my son’s (when he started kindergarten), I’ve used an academic calendar. It just makes planning easier. Side benefit is that due to a career change and going back to school myself becoming a teacher, I haven’t had to reinvent the whole wheel. Now I’m trying to simply maximize my system. Please keep making half-size planner pages. They are perfect and with all the binders they give teachers, things get lost unless they fit into the master half-size binder! The year on one page calendars are extremely helpful to see what is coming up and to schedule in much needed breaks with activities without going overboard.
I’m so happy that you like the calendars and that the academic ones work so well for you. The half-size calendars are not going anywhere, at least not any time I can forsee. I’m actually working on the new 2019/2020 academic ones right now. They’ll be coming out in April. I’m so excited for these ones.
I love the design of your calendars, simply designed and not cluttered. I don’t remember how I Initially found your site, but I use it for planning class projects (I’m a teacher), for our kid calendar at home and ESPECIALLY our summer calendar-who has what camp/activity and when?!
