Who We Are

Scattered Squirrel is a website found at https://scatteredsquirrel.com Our mission is to share information, tips, and tools for people who are looking for solutions to help better organizing and manage their homes, time, and life in general.

What Personal Data We Collect

Here at Scattered Squirrel we try very hard to limit the amount of personal information we collect.  This section explains what we collect and why we collect it.

Comments

If you choose to leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, name and email, and also your IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.  This data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata (your personal information) are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

If you have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.  We use a plug-in called Anti-Spam Bee to help keep the comments spam free.  Anit-Spam Bee does not collect any information.

Newsletters and Promotional Emails

Scattered Squirrel offers a newsletter option for those who would like to receive additional information and stay up to date with new posts, and receive the occasional promotional email.

To provide this service we need to collect your email address in order to deliver the newsletter to you.  In addition to collecting this information, we track whether the emails have been opened and what links have been clicked.

We use this information to help us improve our newsletter so that we are including more of the information you want.

Scattered Squirrel uses Mailer Lite to deliver the newsletter.  Your information is stored on their servers.  For more information about them you can check out their legal page here -> Mailer Lite’s Legal Page

If you have signed up for our newsletter, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Web Browser Cookies

Our site may use “cookies” to enhance the user experience. Your web browser places cookies on their hard drive for record-keeping purposes and sometimes to track information about them. If you do so, note that some parts of the website may not function properly.  However you should still be able to access all posts and the free printables.

Google Analytics

Scattered Squirrel uses Google Analytics to help us better understand how our readers are using our site and how many people are accessing it.  When you visit Scattered Squirrel, Google Analytics automatically starts collecting a variety of information that includes :
  • the date, time and duration of your visit
  • how you came to our site, such as whether you clicked a link on a social media site, found us in search results, clicked a link on another website, or came directly to our site
  • what posts and pages you visited
  • any searches you made through one of our search boxes on the site

We use the information collected in Google Analytics to help us determine what kind of content our readers like to see from us so we can continue to provide that.  We also use the information to help us figure out to keep improving our content, site navigation, and what posts and/or pages to share on our social media channels and in our newsletters.

To further protect your privacy,  we have opted to use the Anonmyze IP addresses option provided by Google Anayltics.  It is also worth noting that IP addresses, and other such information are not linked to any information that is personally identifiable.
