Start Planning the School Year with the 2021-2022 Academic Calendars
Is it just me, or does it feel like the school years are flying by? I can’t believe it’s past time to be sharing the 2021-2022 Academic Calendars already. It’s one of my favourite times of the year because I get to share a new design with all of you. This year is no exception, though there’s a bit of a twist with this year’s calendars.
Ready to see them?
Welcome Back Understated Rainbow Collection
Usually, I spend months working on a new design for the calendars, but this year I decided to do something a little different. Last year I posted a poll in my Facebook group asking what everyone’s favourite design was. It was a pleasant surprise to see that Understated Rainbow took the top spot.
It’s one of my own personal favourites and bringing it back felt like a really good choice for this year. But I didn’t want to just change the dates. I wanted to give it a refresh in a way that will still work well with all the printables in the collection. In the end, I’m really happy with how they turned out.
They ended up being a sort of blend between the original ones and last year’s design. I hope you like them as much as I do.
The 2021-2022 Academic Calendars
When I first release the Understated Rainbow Collection back in 2016 I didn’t offer as many options for the calendars. They only came with a Sunday start and I hadn’t started making calendars for the academic year. So I’m really excited to be able to offer them now with more options.
To make the updated version I kept the colours and fonts the same. I wanted to make sure they would match all the other planner pages in the collection. Where the new ones differ is the grid.
Instead of the grid lines being coloured I kept them grey and made the text colourful. I did this with the 2021 calendars and I heard from a number of you that you really liked that. This new version also has the extra notes sections in place of the empty date boxes.
Before we jump straight to the good stuff there’s just a couple of things I wanted to mention. First, if half-size is your jam, make sure to read the printing instructions. Like last year’s calendars, they’re formatted a little differently. And, as always, simply click or tap the image of the printables you want.
The Two Pages Per Month Calendars
Even though they’re colourful, they’re still simple. They off a lot of room to personalize them with sticker or washi tape, and colour coding will still show up really well.

The Single Page Per Month Calendar
One of my favourite things about the single page per month calendars is that they can be used in so many ways. I print off a few copies each year. One goes on our fridge for meal ideas/planning, another on our command centre so we all know what’s happening, and a third one on the memo board in my office.

Year on a Page 2021-2022 Academic Calendar
Last, but certainly not least, the year on a page calendars are the closest to the original. The only real changes I made to these ones were replacing the title at the top with year. This freed up room to make each month a little bit bigger and easier to read.
One of the perks of refreshing an older design is that you don’t have to wait for the other matching pages to be designed and shared. There’s a whole collection already available for you to choose from! Just click the button below to check out the Understated Rainbow Collection page.
And there we have it! The new, refreshed, Understated Rainbow calendars. I hope you like them and enjoy using them.
Until next time,
Happy Printing!
