Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
Hi Everyone! I hope that all of you had a wonderful Christmas! We had a wonderful, quiet day with just the four of us. We all stayed in our PJs for the whole day. It felt kind of weird not to get dressed on Christmas, but I think it worked out for the best. Our Teen is the only one in the house who was NOT sick for Christmas. Thankfully the rest of us are only sick with colds, so it wasn’t too bad.
This year I had the pleasure of turning the tables on the kids. I was the first one up on Christmas morning! Can you believe that? It was so weird to be up and downstairs before the kids. I got the coffee going, chatted with my best friend via text (who was awake and waiting for her daughter to wake up, go figure!) then after about 45 minutes I decided that I didn’t want to be the only one up. Instead of going upstairs and waking everyone up, I turned on the Christmas music, and turned it up a little louder than normal. Liam was the first to come downstairs. And he came straight to me to give me a hug and say good morning. Then he says to me,
“I woke up and I was singing Christmas carols!”
Love it! Then Travis and our teen came down, right around the time Liam woke up enough to realize it was Christmas morning. It was wonderful! Our teen could not get over the fact that I was the first one up. I think I might try for that again next year. All in all it was a wonderful, peaceful day.
Now that the holiday is over, it’s time to start getting things back to normal around here. Today is take down the tree day. Sadly, the tree I picked out didn’t seem to want to suck the water like the one last year did, and it is not dry and turning brittle all the way to the top. The needles close to the trunk are still nice and soft, but we don’t want to take any chances. Makes me sad to take it down though. My Mom gave us our tree this year when her and my Dad were visiting earlier this month. It was an awesome to have my Mom and Dad here to help decorate the tree, so it’s rather sad to be taking it down. Especially since curbside pick-up doesn’t start until next week, but it’s much better to safe than sorry with things like trees.
After I get the tree moved outside I have to get my office area organized. Stay tuned for a post about that coming up next week. I’m rather squished right now with things piled on my desk, and cluttering up the floor. For anyone still waiting on their personalized cover pages, they will on their way to your in-boxes shortly. There is still time for you to get your copy, just hop on over the Printable of the Month tab, and fill out the form.
Thank you to all of you who stop by to read the blog, grab a printable, or chat on social media. It’s been a wonderful year hanging out with all of you, and I’m looking forward to an even better year in the new year. I wish each and every one of you a joyful, memory filled, amazing new year! All the best my friends!
